KBAS – Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies came to us to participate as the typographic consultants on the Pentagon Memorial. We were honored to offer our design services for this prodigious memorial. The memorial itself is “sensory driven environment with all materials contributing to an emphasis on life. Organized by a timeline based on the ages of each individual, 184 Memorial Units are uniquely placed along Age Lines parallel with the trajectory of Flight 77.” — KBAS. We had several typographic surface areas to consider along with various materials in which type would be set. Ultimately we wanted to bring a humble yet serious typeface to this memorial; one that would stand the test of time.
